Richard A. (Rick) JOHNSON passed away on November 6, 2018 in Charlottesville, VA, with his wife and children by his side.  Rick, a member of the 17th Company, upon graduation was commissioned a Second Lieutenant, U.S. Marine Corps. He served in Oknawa, Newport, RI, leaving the service to work in his family business and Sylvania. Simultaneously, he served the Marine Corp Reserve. Rick loved sailing, the Red Sox and New England Patriots. Rick and his wife, Ginny, attended the 59th Reunion for the Class of 1959 in October 2018.

A Memorial Service will begin promptly at 11AM at the US Naval Academy Chapel on Friday, January 25, 2019. The service will be followed by Committal at the Columbarium. With a Reception to follow at the USNA Club.

Richard J. (Rich) MADDEN of Summit, NJ died on December 21,2018, at the age of 80. He is survived by his devoted wife of 32 years, Paula Maida Mooney, five children, and eight grandchildren.
Rich served his country and community as A MARINE, BUSINESS EXECUTIVE, COMMUNITY LEADER, FORMER CEO ADIDAS, USA, INC.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Teresa of Avila Church, 306 Morris Ave. in Summit on Saturday, January 5th at 10:45am. In lieu of flowers, donations to the USNA Foundation are greatly appreciated.

Edward E. (Ted) ALEXANDER passed away December 20 with his wife of 55 years, Ann, by his side. He’s also survived by his three sons, Edward, Bryan, and Bruce; one daughter-in-law, Paula; three grandchildren, Dane, Nathan, and Kathryn Ann; and one surviving sibling, his brother Frank.

Ted had a distinguished Naval career rising to the rank of Captain. He furthered his service to the community in the Vestry of St. John‘s Episcopal Church, McLean Citizens Association, American Legion Post #18, the Army Navy Country Club, the American Small Business Association, among other organizations.

All are welcome at a service to be held Saturday, 29 December, 3 PM to 5 PM, at Money and King Funeral Home, 171 Maple Avenue W, Vienna, Virginia.

A memorial service to honor Ted’s life will be held at Arlington Cemetery in the coming months.

Michael (Mike) Joseph Cronin of Colts Neck passed away on November 2, 2018 at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Barbara and his and his loving children; Catherine and Chris Gardner, Raef and Cathy Cronin, Rachael Cronin, and Michelle and Rob Louden as well as his brother, Dr. Terry and Kathy Cronin and his grandchildren and extended family.
After gradutation, he was commissioned into the US Army serving in Germany, and eventually leaving the service he then earned his law degree from Harvard Univeristy and spent many years as a successful lawyer for ITT and other companies.

Richard Lee Baldwin of Triangle, VA died on November 5, 2018 at Sentara Potomac Hospital in Woodbridge. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Sally Baldwin, daughter Ann Bateman, son John Baldwin and his grandchildren.

Robert C. "Bob" Hurd passed away peacefully on October 23, 2018. He was predeceased by Pauline, his loving wife of nearly 58 years, and is survived by his brother John K. Hurd of Bethesda, his son R. Scott Hurd of Alexandria, his daughter-in-law Diane E. Kraynak, and three grandchildren. From a Navy family, Bob served 28 years with numerous sea and shore duties. Retiring as a Captain, he then worked in the electronic Data interchange field and continued work in community affairs, playing golf and numerous other activities.

A memorial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 13, 11:00 a.m., at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension and Saint Agnes at 1217 Massachusetts Ave., NW, Washington, DC 20007. A reception will follow at Army Navy Country Club in Arlington. In lieu of flowers, Bob's family asks that gifts be made to the Church of the Ascension and Saint Agnes' Wheelchair and Stroller Accessibility Fund. Raymond "Buddy" WELLBORN passed away October 23, 2018. A 1959 graduate from the United States Naval Academy, 11th Company, he proudly served his country until his retirement at the rank of Captain. He was a Trustee of the USNA Foundation, a big Navy Football fan who wrote game summaries of each Navy game for friends and others. Preceded in death by his parents and wife Gladys (March 1993). He is survived by his sons Burke (Julie) of Gulf Breeze, FL, Robert of Dickinson, TX, and John (Julie) of Canton, NC, and 7 grandchildren.

Harry E. LEWIS, 82, of Saunderstown, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, September 26, 2018. Harry was the beloved husband of fifty-six years to Barbara R. (Stannard) Lewis. Harry was a Marketing Director of Military Products and a US Navy veteran serving as a navy pilot during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Harry was a graduate of the US Naval Academy, Class of 1959. Besides his wife he is survived by his loving children. Joyce C. McGanka, 81, of Ligonier, died peacefully, Thursday, May 24, 2018, in Ligonier Gardens. She was born Jan. 5, 1937 in Somerset, a daughter of the late Edwin F. and Nelle Gorr Bauer. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed as a registered nurse for many years. She was of the Episcopal faith. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters and brothers-in-law. At the family's request, all services and interment will be private. The J. PAUL McCRACKEN FUNERAL CHAPEL INC. of Ligonier is assisting the family.

Thomas Howard (Tom) EMSLEY died April 25, 2018 surrounded by loved ones after a long, valiant struggle with pancreatic cancer. Born October 20, 1935, member of the Class of 1959 and 5th Company, he is survived by his wife, Nancy of 57 years and children and grandchildren.

Burial services at Arlington National Cemetery on September 10, 2018 at 1100. Full honors have been requested.

Richard (Rich) David MILLIGAN died June 28, 2018 in Chesapeake, VA due to complications from dementia. Rear Admiral Richard David Milligan, an identical twin, was born first on 6 September 1936 in Livingston, NJ to Barbara & Andrew J. Milligan, Sr. Of Rich's six siblings, he is survived by Major General Robert F. Milligan and his wife, June, and Elaine Sherman and her husband, Jack. He was predeceased by his twin, Jimmy, his sisters Lillian and Gayle, and his brother, Andy.
Rich is survived by his wife MaryBourke, two sons and their wives, a daughter and her husband and seven grandchildren.
A Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Norfolk, VA (520 Graydon Ave) on July 18 at 1030.

A service and commital servies with be held August 17, 2018 at 1140 at USNA.

Robert (Bob) V. MORGAN: Robert V. Bob' Morgan (March 28, 1937 - July 2, 2017) Captain Robert Vernon Morgan, USN, passed away with his loving wife Lucy of 55 years at his bedside. Bob was in the Class of '59, 1st Company. A celebration of life will be held at the in Coronado, CA on July 29, 2017.
Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery Service on July 24, 2018 commencing at 1:00PM. There will be a gathering at Fort Myer’s Patton Hall following the service.

Roland Raymond WOMMACK died May 22, 2018. Born on December 27, 1936 he was a 1959 USNA graduate and member of the 19th Company. Roland Wommack was an American fencer who competed in the team Epee event in the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome, Italy.

The ashes of former Navy LT Roland Raymond Wommack, Class of 1959 (DOB: 27 December 1936, DOB: 22 May 2018) will be inurned at the USNA Columbarium on Friday, 20 July 2018 at 1000.

Linda Travis OSBURN died April 12, 2018 following a lengthy illness. Linda was the wife of Captain David Lowell Osburn, Class of '59, 10th Company. Mrs. Osburn is survived by her son, daughter and grandchildren.

Gerald (Jerry) H. WELSH: Gerald (Jerry) Welsh (February 25, 1935 - January 2, 2018) died at home. His wife Bonnie, four children, grandchildren, other family and many friends gathered at the Visitations on January 11, 2018. His Funeral Mass was on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Gainesville, VA and was followed by family and friends who celebrated Jerry’s life at his home.

Rodney K. JOHNSTON: Rodney Kohler Johnston, 80, died March 30, 2018 at his home on Tybee Island, GA. He was born in Wisconsin and was a 1959 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, and received his law degree from George Washington University. He had a very distinguished career as a Prosecutor and in public service, also serving as a Senator in Wisconsin.
He is survived by his three children, Scott, Kristen, and Julie.
Service Committal at the Columbarium at the U.S. Naval Academy will be on Friday, 27 April 2018 at 1430 for former Navy LT Rodney Kohler Johnston, Class of 1959 (DOB: 02 September 1937, DOD: 30 March 2018 ).

John Gardiner Richards RODDEY: Richards RODDEY passed on February 11, 2018. He was at home at the time of his death with his wife of 56 years Gail at his side. Richards is survived by his wife Gail Smith Baker Roddey formerly of Conway, SC, four children and twelve grandchildren. His children are Gardiner (JGR Roddey, Jr), wife Patricia, Suci (Grace Fayssoux Roddey Jackson), husband Hardie, Joe (William Joseph Roddey V), wife Sarah, and Jean Roddey Bird and husband Brian.

The funeral will be Friday, 18 Febuary at 11AM at the Johns Island Presbyterian Chruch, 2550 Bohicket Road, Johns Island, SC 29455 (843-559-9380). Interment will be Saturday in Liberty Hill Presbyterian Churchyard (located: 11 Meeting Land Liberty Hill, SC).

Ben Ford HOLT passed away January 23, 2018 after a long battle with cancer. A 1959 graduate from the United States Naval Academy, 18th Company, he proudly served his country until his retirement at the rank of Commander in June of 1979. On June 6, 1959, Ben married the love of his life, Gail Wallis Holt, in Atlanta, GA.  Together they celebrated over 57 wonderful years of marriage.

He is survived by his children: Christy Holt Chesser (Scott) of Lexington Park, MD, Ben F. Holt III (Anjanette) of Norman, OK, and Randal W. Holt (Jennifer) of Lexington Park, MD; and his grandchildren: Kevin Scott Chesser, Tyler Holt Chesser, Andrew Carl Chesser, Garrett Rhymes Holt, Carmela Diane Holt, Amelie Gail Holt, Ellie Lynne Holt and Harrison Wallis Holt.  His wife, Gail who passed away in December of 2016, preceded him in death.  In addition to his parents and wife he is also preceded in death by his sister, Tonye Holt Watson.

Family will receive friends for Ben's Life Celebration on January 29, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Brinsfield Funeral Home, 22955 Hollywood Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650
Interment will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.

Linda M. Hill (Hamilton) , age 79, of Carlisle, PA, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018. She was born December 4, 1939. Linda is survived by Griffen F. Hamilton (USNA '59, 12th Company), four stepsons and many other relatives. Linda was preceded in death by her parents and brother.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 1 N Hanover Street, Carlisle, PA at with Rev. Adam Kradel, Ph.D., officiating. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. A viewing will be held in the church parish hall from 2:00 pm until the time of the service on Tuesday.
